Jail for assaulted student for affiliation with Awami League student but free reign for attackers for BNP’s student wing

Shwaon Hossain, a student of statistics department from Yunus’s alma matter Chittagong University, was not only denied his right to safety but also deprived of his right to legal protection only for his affiliation with student wing of Bangladesh Awami League.

On last Monday, a gang of armed cadres of BNP’s student wing, assaulted him ruthlessly and to further vilify the victim, the cadres placed a garland of shoes but the cops did not stand to protect the rights of the victim.

Instead of arresting the attackers, police arrested the victim and threw him behind the bars, further aiding ongoing crimes against humanity against students regarded as dissenters, instilling a culture of anarchy and promoting unruliness on campuses.⁩
