In Dhunbaria, Tangail, a BNP-Jamaat terrorist group has brutally murdered Mizanur Rahman (45), an Awami League leader. The murder took place on Friday night in the Vaighat Bazar area of Dhopakhali Union, and there are signs of a politically motivated and premeditated terrorist attack.
Mizanur Rahman was the General Secretary of Ward 8 of Dhopakhali Union Awami League. Though a businessman by profession, he was active and popular in his party’s activities. The local community believes that he was targeted to silence political influence and progressive leadership.
After the Maghrib prayer, a group of criminals lured him from in front of the mosque into an alley. There, they carried out savage torture and attempted to stab him to death. Though locals rushed him to the hospital while he was severely injured, he breathed his last on the way to Tangail.
The BNP-Jamaat terrorist machinery is targeting grassroots Awami League leaders and activists, one by one, to destroy the party.
