BNP and Chhatra Dal activists are reportedly cutting and selling soil from government-owned khas land along the banks of the Padma River. Every day, over a hundred truckloads of soil are being sold. Despite red flags and government signboards being posted to protect state property, the aggression by BNP and Chhatra Dal continues unchecked.

During one operation, the UNO (Upazila Nirbahi Officer) was reportedly confronted at gunpoint by the looters. This situation has put key installations at risk, including the Bangladesh Police Academy and two Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) border outposts (BOPs).

Local sources say that since the fall of the Hasina government, control of the sand depot has been seized by Murad Pasha (General Secretary of Charghat Upazila BNP), Zahurul Haque Jibon (Organizing Secretary), and former Chhatra Dal Organizing Secretary Motalebur Rahman Motaleb. Motaleb alone is reportedly facing 12 criminal cases across various police stations, including charges of arms possession, theft, robbery, mugging, and drug-related offenses.
