Was the Women’s Struggle Only for Self-Interest Today, Top Female Advisers Stay Silent in the Face of Fundamentalist Humiliation

In today’s Bangladesh, women are once again being insulted, humiliated, and targeted by fundamentalist hatred. And yet, those who once championed women’s rights and climbed to the highest ranks of state power, honor, and authority—are now silent. Is this silence merely strategic? Or is it pure selfishness? Women across the nation are demanding an answer.
Where are those we trusted?

Thousands of women looked up to seasoned female leaders like Sharmin Murshid, Farida Akhter, or Rizwana Hasan. They believed that in this time of crisis, at least these women would raise their voices, protest, and send a strong message against the fundamentalists. But all are silent. As if nothing happened. As if the dishonor of women is not an issue at all.

This silence is not just disappointing—it is breeding distrust. Because these are not just ordinary women. They are advisers to the government, policy-makers, and power-holders. If they won’t speak, then who will?
When a woman is harassed, her modesty questioned, and all of womanhood insulted—remaining silent is not just a failure, it signals state complicity.
Has the government deliberately unleashed the fundamentalists?
Despite so many women being part of policy-making, the government has taken no action against the extremists. It isn’t even encouraging others to speak out. This suggests there’s no discomfort within the government about fundamentalist power. Rather, it appears that women’s dignity is being sacrificed in a vile political game.

Were the tears we saw all these years real? Were the emotions genuine? Was the movement for power, not rights?
If they truly stood for women’s rights, they wouldn’t have remained silent in today’s vile circumstances. That’s why people now question: Was their fight only for personal gain?

Women have spoken out—and this time, the questions are directed at their former leaders too.
This is not just a complaint—it’s a warning. Times have changed. And women now see clearly who is genuine, and who was only pretending.
