Foxglove The Deadly Poison Behind the Planned Killings of Imprisoned Former Government Officials and Awami League Leaders

Amid Bangladesh’s recent political turmoil, a terrifying conspiracy has been uncovered thanks to courageous investigative journalism. Since the July riots, a chilling pattern has emerged: Awami League leaders and activists are mysteriously dying soon after being sent to prison. Police and prison authorities consistently claim these deaths are due to “heart attacks.” But accounts from families, colleagues, and independent investigators confirm that these are not natural deaths—they are deliberate killings.

Once arrested, detainees face continuous physical and psychological torture. Unknown chemicals and drugs are mixed into their food or forcibly administered. If they resist, medieval forms of brutal torture are unleashed on them.

The method of killing is so precise that it cannot be detected without advanced medical investigation. Drugs from the digitalis group, such as Digoxin or Digitoxin, derived from the Foxglove plant, are at the center of this scheme. Doctors normally use these medicines to treat heart failure or arrhythmia by helping the heart contract more strongly. In proper doses, they are life-saving. But just a slightly higher dose makes the heartbeat dangerously irregular, leading to arrhythmia, nausea, dizziness, and vision problems.

If small overdoses are given over time, the drug accumulates in the body and, after several days, causes sudden cardiac arrest. Externally, there are no marks. Without forensic or toxicology testing, such deaths appear identical to natural heart attacks. With higher doses, symptoms begin within hours—severe arrhythmia, breathing difficulty, and sudden cardiac arrest within 24 hours.

In prisons, these drugs are being secretly mixed with food or forcibly administered. Within 8–24 hours—or sometimes within three days—the victims collapse and die. Police then declare it a “heart attack.” No visible evidence, no outward injury—everything appears perfectly staged.

The masterminds behind this ruthless method are Mohammad Yunus, who seized power illegally, and his close associate, Army Chief Waker. Their sinister plan to overthrow the elected government has extended into prisons. This is eerily reminiscent of 1975, when Moshtaque orchestrated the assassination of four national leaders inside Dhaka Central Jail. Today, the same playbook is being used—only this time, not with bullets, but with silent chemical poisons. The goal remains unchanged: to eliminate political opponents quietly, while ensuring complete deniability.

Even though evidence of this conspiracy is surfacing, neither the state nor law enforcement agencies are conducting proper investigations. No one has been held accountable. Families who raise questions face harassment, intimidation, and social or financial pressure. As a result, every death is dismissed as “heart attack” in the official narrative—while the truth remains buried.

But when medical science explains how digitalis poisoning works, and when family testimonies align with independent investigations, it becomes undeniable: these are not ordinary deaths. This is a systematic political extermination campaign.

The media reports and the cries of victims’ families make it clear—these prison deaths are not natural. They are planned, calculated, and conspiratorial killings under state custody.
