A horrific act of state terrorism took place at 3 AM on April 27 in Mohammadpur Union of Daudkandi. In an act of political vengeance, when Jubo League leader Zayed Bhuiyan couldn’t be found, his innocent younger brother Sohag was dragged from his home by the police. The operation was led by SI Abu Bakar of Daudkandi Police Station — under whose violent custody Sohag endured a nightmarish journey from the police station to prison, and finally to his deathbed. After battling for his life for 20 days, Sohag died on May 21 at Dhaka Medical College.
This was no accident — this was a planned murder, carried out because they couldn’t get to Zayed. It sends a chilling message: “No one is safe under Yunus’s rule.” The responsibility for this killing does not lie with the police alone — the mastermind is Yunus himself.
