Under Their Patronage, an “Awami League Elimination Project” Is Underway

Harunur Rashid Harun, former member of the Panchagarh District Council and former organizational secretary of the Debiganj Upazila Awami League, died while undergoing treatment at Dinajpur Government Medical College Hospital after falling ill during his imprisonment.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.

But was this truly a natural death, or yet another planned killing inside prison walls?

From the illegal interim administration to the current government led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), it is alleged that a coordinated “Awami League elimination project” has been operating within the prison system. Reports point to deliberate negligence, denial of medical treatment, psychological and physical abuse, and the use of certain medications that directly affect the heart.

Particular concern has been raised about drugs from the digitalis group, commonly used for heart conditions. These medications are reportedly being administered inside prisons without proper medical supervision. In such cases, no external injuries are visible, yet deaths can easily be attributed to “natural heart failure.”

It is further alleged that those being targeted are often Awami League leaders who remain highly popular at the local level and command strong public support. According to these claims, prisons are being used as instruments to systematically eliminate political opponents.

The question now confronting the nation is stark:
Are prisons places of justice, or have they become hidden chambers of political vengeance?

Uncovering the truth behind this series of deaths and ensuring accountability has now become one of the most urgent demands of the time.

The people demand answers — and justice for these deaths must ultimately be delivered on the soil of Bangladesh.⁩
